JUST IN: The former FedEx driver who kidnapped and murdered 7-year-old Athena Strand has been sentenced to death by a Tarrant County jury. 📰⚖️
This monster, Tanner Horner, abducted Athena in late 2022 while on a delivery to her home in Paradise, Texas, and later admitted to killing her and pled guilty to capital murder. 💔😡 A chilling photo even shows Athena in the FedEx truck during some of the last moments of her life after he took her. 🚚😭
Prosecutors revealed there was DNA evidence in places you should never find on a 7-year-old child, and the jury ultimately decided on the death penalty after hearing emotional and graphic testimony about what Athena went through in her final moments. 🧬⚖️
Athena’s uncle delivered a powerful statement in court, reminding Horner that Athena had dreams she will never get to chase, birthdays she will never celebrate, and a life she will never get to live because of his actions. 🎂🕊 He told him straight: you didn’t just take a life, you destroyed a family and shattered innocence with unimaginable violence. 💔
He also said what many of us feel — that no matter what Horner claims about “finding God,” his actions stand in direct opposition to everything decent and good, and one day he will answer to God for what he did. 🙏⚡
