The latest trailer opens withCharlize Theron’scharacter, Calypso, asking Damon’s Odysseus what he remembers. “A wife, a son” he answers, before adding: “and then we won the war”. The trailer then cuts between action scenes such as the famous Trojan Horse attack, and dramatic moments such as Odysseus’ wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) fending off suitors as she waits for her husband to return.
Chief among them is the scheming Antinous (Robert Pattinson), established in the clip as the villain of the story. As well as pressuring Penelope to accept that her husband is dead and marry him, he mocks Odysseus’ son, Telemachus (Tom Holland) for believing he will return.
Some of the most exciting moments involve Damon’s hero battling the Cyclops, his armies fighting against rough seas, and Odysseus’ final defiant declaration: “No-one can stand between me and home, not even the gods”.
