With TVK emerging as the single largest party in Tamil Nadu’s 2026 assembly elections on Monday, May 4, 2026, attention has turned to the financial disclosures of its founder and chief, C. Joseph Vijay. His 27-page affidavit, submitted to the Election Commission of India on March 30, 2026, lays out a detailed picture of his assets, income streams, and investment choices. Vijay has declared a total net worth of Rs 624 crore. Of this, Rs 404 crore falls under movable assets, while Rs 220 crore is tied up in immovable holdings.
For FY 2024–25, his declared income stands at Rs 184.53 crore, earned through self-employment, rental inflows, and interest earnings.
One of the most notable disclosures is the Rs 213.36 crore balance held in a savings account at Indian Overseas Bank’s Saligramam branch as of March 27, 2026. This is not invested in any market-linked or structured instrument but remains in a standard savings account. The amount alone makes up more than one-third of his total declared wealth, highlighting a highly conservative approach to capital management.
Heavy Reliance On Bank Deposits
In addition to the savings balance,Vijayhas placed Rs 100 crore in fixed deposits across four banks. These include Rs 40 crore with Axis Bank, Rs 25 crore with Indian Overseas Bank (Kodambakkam branch), Rs 20 crore with HDFC Bank, and Rs 15 crore with State Bank of India. Together, over Rs 313 crore of his wealth is held in low-risk, fixed-return banking instruments, indicating a strong preference for stability over market exposure.
Minimal Exposure To Equity Markets
Compared to his overall wealth, Vijay’s stock market investments are negligible. His total equity holdings amount to just ₹19.37 lakh, including shares in Jaya Nagar Property Pvt Ltd and small stakes in Indian Overseas Bank and Sun Paper Mill Ltd. This represents less than 0.04 per cent of his total net worth, with no declared investments in mutual funds, bonds, or debentures.
Vijay’s immovable assets, valued at Rs 20 crore, span residential, commercial, and land holdings across Chennai and nearby regions. His residential properties alone are worth around ₹115 crore, while commercial assets contribute nearly ₹82.8 crore. He also owns non-agricultural and agricultural land, including plots in Kodaikanal purchased decades ago.
Beyond property, he owns a vehicle fleet valued at Rs 13.52 crore and has declared gold, silver, and other valuables. His financial disclosures also reveal ₹75.5 crore extended as loans and advances to individuals, institutions, and family members.
Additionally, his spouse, Sangeetha Vijay, has declared assets worth Rs 15.76 crore, primarily in movable forms such as deposits and jewellery.
