A US Secret Service agent assigned to a security detail linked toDonald Trumphas been arrested in Miami following allegations of indecent exposure at a hotel. The individual, identified as John Andrew Spillman, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both a criminal case and an internal agency investigation.
The incident is reported to have taken place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport and Convention Center on Sunday night. Authorities confirmed that Spillman, 33, was charged under local law after hotel guests reported inappropriate conduct in a public-access area of the property.
According to law enforcement documents cited in local media reports, hotel guests alerted security after encountering the individual near their room late at night. Security personnel responding to the complaint subsequently detained the agent before police intervention.
Officials have not released further operational details, and the case remains under investigation. At this stage, all allegations are being treated within the framework of due legal process.
Spillman was later taken into custody and processed at a local correctional facility. Court records indicate he was released on bond, with further legal proceedings scheduled.
In a statement, the United States Secret Service confirmed that the agent had been placed on administrative leave. Agency leadership described the alleged conduct as inconsistent with institutional standards.
“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity expected of our personnel,” Secret Service Chief Richard Macauley said. The agency added that a full internal review is underway alongside the criminal investigation.
Spillman is reported to be based in Washington, DC, and was in Florida as part of a perimeter security assignment linked to an upcoming presidential visit. The deployment involved security preparations in the vicinity of Trump National Doral ahead of a scheduled event.
Officials clarified that the agent was off duty at the time of the alleged incident. Authorities have not indicated any connection between the incident and the operational security assignment. The case is expected to proceed through the judicial process, with a court appearance scheduled later this month. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and statements as part of the inquiry.
