The Peruvian American Chamber of Commerce Alliance (PACCA), under the leadership of its president, Shermelee Carrasco Martinez, and its outstanding board of directors, continues to establish itself as a leading force in connecting culture and commerce across Long Island and beyond. As a modern and inclusive chamber, PACCA is not only for Peruvians — it is a platform open to all professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who believe in collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual growth.
For the second consecutive year, PACCA proudly brought Filmed in Peru to Long Island — an initiative that not only elevates Peruvian cinema but also strengthens international cultural exchange and business collaboration within our region.Held on Sunday, April 20, at the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center in Patchogue, the Peruvian Film Festival was a resounding success. Both featured films, Runa Simi and Nanito, reached full capacity, reflecting the growing demand for diverse, high-quality cultural programming and the community’s strong support for international film.
More than a film event, this was a curated cultural experience. Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere that celebrated Peru in its full expression — through gastronomy, music, dance, and visual artistry. Attendees enjoyed Peruvian and Latin cuisine, the iconic Pilsen Callao, and a remarkable presentation of Marinera performed by champion dancers, alongside models showcasing the richness and elegance of traditional Peruvian attire.
“This is exactly what PACCA stands for,” said President Carrasco Martinez. “We are not only promoting business — we are building bridges, creating opportunities, and bringing our culture to life in a way that unites communities and opens doors for future generations.”Through initiatives like Filmed in Peru, PACCA continues to solidify its mission as a modern and active chamber of commerce — one that champions entrepreneurship, fosters strategic collaborations, and proudly represents Peruvian culture throughout Long Island, New York, and beyond.
