If you use the Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 (GA4), you likely know about the widespread “email not found” bug. This issue restricted users from adding new Google Cloud Service Account emails to theaforementioned tools. New reports indicate that Google has now acknowledged the bug, which gives a “Failed to add user: email not found” error in Search Console and Google Analytics 4.

Based on reports, the glitch started surfacing around April 23. Theaffected usersreported that the issue continuously freezes new API integrations. One drawback of this glitch is that it hinders digital agency onboarding processes. This Google-side bug prevents agencies from adding new service account emails necessary for API integrations. Furthermore, the backend desync means the 30-day onboarding roadmap is impossible right now. Of course, this means unnecessary delays for essential initial reporting and technical SEO work.

According to reports, users said they get a “Failed to add user: email not found” error message when they try adding a new service account email to Google Search Console and Analytics 4. If you’re interested in a workaround for this glitch, Google said you may get one soon.

When the issue surfaced, users took to the Google support page to air their frustrations. To address the issue, a product expert suggested some workarounds, which include:

If you have ever tried these steps, the truth is you certainly will still be experiencing the issue. That’s so because the“Failed to add user: email not found”error message in Google Search Console and Analytics 4 is never your fault. Instead, it’s aGoogle-side bug.

With more reports dropping, a product expert has now come out to say that the issue has been escalated. With Google now looking into the issue, we’re hopeful that a fix will come sooner than later. We’ll keep an eye out for an update from Google and keep you posted here.
