If you use Google Slides a lot, you certainly know about its editing screen. It allows you to minimize workspace by hiding menus or adding extensions to edit in full-screen. Recently, users reported that a white bar, caused by a bug, appears at the bottom of their Google Slides editing screen. This makes editing pretty difficult for users in full-screen. According to a Diamond Product expert, this issue is likely to be fixed in the coming weeks.

When describing the issue, users said it appears as a large blank white bar. The issue appears at the bottom end of the Google Slides editing screen. Sometimes, this bar occupies alot of space, making it difficult to achieve the perfect slide previews. Of course, this makes editing difficult for many users.

Reports about this issue are currently available across different platforms, including the Google Slides Help Community. Oneuseron the page said the issue isn’t device-specific. He further said:“My personal drive does not show the bar, but of course, the one used for work is displaying the same as yours. Hope we find some answers!!!”

With hundreds of users reporting the same issue on the Support Group, Google has no choice but to prioritize it. So far, the white bar bug appearing at the bottom of the Google Slides editing screen affects these devices:

No doubt, the Support team is aware of this issue where a white bar appears at the bottom of the Google Slides editor. The team asked the affected users to share their OS, browser extensions, and add-ons. This information allows them to better understand the issue and provide a permanent fix.

Last week, the issue was fully escalated to the product team. ADiamond Product Expertacknowledged they’re already working on a fix, which will be available in 2 weeks. While we wait for Google’s server-side fix, you can always try the workaround below if the issue disrupts your workflow. It involves using modes where the bar does not appear or interfere with.
