Mumbai Indians end their three-match losing streak by registering their highest successful chase in Indian Premier League history. They defeated Rishabh Pant's Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets in match 47 of the ongoing edition ofIPL 2026, which was being played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. This wasMI's third win of the tournament, but it did not have any effect on their position in the points table as both MI and LSG are still in 9th and 10th spots, respectively. However, it surely further ensured LSG's exit from the playoff race.
MI was already playing this game without their regular skipper Hardik Pandya, who was unwell, but received a major boost in the form of returning Rohit Sharma, who had been out of action due to a hamstring injury. MI have somewhat kept themselves alive in the playoff race but they gotta win every game from here on out to turn that possibility into a reality.
On the other hand, PBKS, RCB, SRH and RR continue to be the top four, respectively. However, with other teams like Gujarat Titans, CSK, DC and KKR eyeing some late shake-up, things will surely get interesting going ahead.
In a high-scoring Indian Premier League match on Monday, the Mumbai Indians picked up a big win over Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets with match-winning knocks from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. Rickelton struck 83 off just 32 balls, and Rohit led the charge with a crucial 84 off 44 balls. Together, they put on a 143-run opening partnership that set the stage for the chase. After overwhelming LSG's 228/5 in 18.4 overs, MI recorded their third victory in 10 games and advanced to six points. With four points from nine games, LSG's loss maintains them at the bottom of the standings.
Earlier, Nicholas Pooran scored an incredible 63 off 21 balls, his first fifty of the season, and LSG finally displayed some batting flair. Mitchell Marsh contributed 44 runs in a significantly better batting performance. But captain Rishabh Pant had yet another poor performance, scoring just 15. Aiden Markram's (31*) and Himmat Singh's (40*) late efforts helped LSG reach a competitive total, but ultimately it was insufficient.
