Tehran’s ‘mosquito fleet’ is under fire.

As US President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly reminded the world, the Iranian Navy has been obliterated, and their ships are all at the bottom of the sea.

But the Iranians now count on the so-called ‘mosquito fleet’ of small boats (or fast boats) that they use to harass cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Today (4), US forces reportedly sank six or seven of these small boats deployed, right before Trump warned that the Islamic Republic would be ‘blown off the face of the Earth’ if it interferes with efforts to reopen the waterway.

“Iran has taken some shots at unrelated Nations with respect to the Ship Movement, PROJECT FREEDOM, including a South Korean Cargo Ship… We’ve shot down seven small Boats or, as they like to call them, “fast” Boats. It’s all they have left.” – President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸pic.twitter.com/dRpde52oWB

“Adm. Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), told reporters in a press call that while Iran historically has deployed ‘between 20 and 40 small boats’ to threaten commercial shipping in the strait, ‘Today, we saw just six and eliminated them quickly’.

‘We have an enormous amount of capability and firepower concentrated in and around the strait, including 864 Apache and MH 60 Seahawk helicopters’, said Cooper, emphasizing that Iran’s military capability has been “dramatically degraded.”
