The $12 millionGold Coast Libraryopened its new Glen Head location in March, marking the completion of a multi-year construction project to provide additional services to the Glen Head community.

Library officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 2, celebrating the official opening of the building that vastly expanded on the community’s previous library.

The 11,000-square-foot library, located at 146 Glen Head Road, is nearly double the size of the two buildings the library previously used and features a community room that can hold more than 100 people as well as an outdoor reading space.

TheGold Coast Library was first established in 2005 following a public campaign and has been a fixture in the community for two decades.

The building, which was located at 50 Railroad Ave., has faced a space issue since its inception, which led to the $12 million project kicking off construction in September 2023 for an entirely new building for the library.

The initial library was just 4,400 square feet and would frequently need to rent out external spaces for events.
