As counting continues for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, a decade-old photograph featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor-turned-politician Vijay has resurfaced online, grabbing widespread attention and fuelling speculation across social media platforms.

The image, originally shared by Narendra Modi on April 16, 2014, during his election campaign, shows him alongside Vijay, whom he had described at the time as a “noted film personality in the south.” What was once a routine political interaction has now re-entered public discourse under very different circumstances.

Vijay, who has since transitioned into politics and launched his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is currently emerging as a key player in the ongoing elections. The resurfaced photograph has gained traction at a moment when voters and political observers alike are closely tracking trends, adding a layer of curiosity to an otherwise dated visual.

Online users have been quick to attach political meaning to the image, with some speculating about possible alignments or past connections. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the photograph indicates any present-day political development. It remains a snapshot from a previous election cycle with no direct link to the current scenario.

Meanwhile, early trends have put Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in a strong position, with the party reportedly leading in 107 seats, an impressive showing for a relatively new entrant in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. Vijay himself is also performing strongly, leading in both the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli (East) constituencies by margins of over 2,990 votes and 3,299 votes, respectively, as per Election Commission of India data.

Vote counting, which began on the morning of May 4, is still underway, and the final outcome is yet to be declared. Until then, both electoral trends and viral moments like this continue to dominate the conversation.
