Puducherry Assembly ElectionResult 2026 Live:It’s not just Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for which May 04 is all set to mark a rather important day- but Puducherry, a Union Territory, is also among the five poll-bound regions that will witness a major political decision being taken, which will rule the fate of the said regions for the next five years. The results of the Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026 are scheduled to be announced today, Monday. The voting for the UT was held in a single phase on April 09, 2026.

Puducherry’s political structure so far:

The elections in Puducherry are being held between 294 candidates- fighting to get their hands on 30 seats divided in four regions: Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam. Currently, the UT is being run under the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), with All India NR Congress’ N Rangaswamy as the sitting Chief Minister. AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) is also part of the alliance. The NDA government came into power in 2021. With that said, the alliance is looking forward to a second consecutive win in Puducherry. The majority seat mark for the UT is 17.

One of the key opposition groups in Puducherry is the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which is being led by the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), the Indian National Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and more.

The youth-focused Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is also an emerging player for the 2026 polls.

The counting for the UT will start at 8 AM, at six centres:

Puducherry region- 3 counting centres

Karaikal region- 1 counting centre

Yanam region- 1 counting centre
