Sunil Narine achieved a series of unprecedented feats after completing a massive landmark during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad (SRH). The West Indies star bowled four overs and gave away just 31 runs while taking two wickets as the Knight Riders made a strong fightback after Travis Head (61 off 29) gave the Hyderabad-based franchise a quick start.

Narine was handed the new ball by KKR in a rare move and bowled two of the first three overs. However, the move backfired as he conceded 20 runs without getting a wicket. He returned to bowl in the 10th over and conceded just two runs. It was in his final over of the day (16th over of the innings) that the three-time IPL winner made a big impact by dismissing Salil Arora (2 off 6) and Ishan Kishan (43

The wicket of Salil marked a historic moment as Narine completed 200 wickets in his IPL career. The star spinner is the third player to join the elusive list after Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (228 wickets) and veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (215 wickets). Narine is the first overseas player (non-Indian) to achieve the remarkable feat.

Narine has also become the first player in the IPL to take over 200 wickets for one team. He won the race over Indian pace bowler star Jasprit Bumrah to achieve the stunning feat. Bumrah had gone past his former Mumbai Indians (MI) teammate Lasith Malinga in the elite list last season.

Meanwhile, Narine is the first player in the IPL to complete the all-round double of 200 wickets and 1000 runs. Infact, no player with 200 wickets even has 500 runs. Ravindra Jadeja has the chance to become the second player to complete the rare feat.

Narine is arguably IPL's greatest-ever overseas player. He joined the Knight Riders in the 2012 season after the franchise spent big money on him in the auction. He helped the Gautam Gambhir-led side win their maiden title in his debut season. The spin-bowling all-rounder also played a key role in their title win in 2014 under Gambhir's leadership, as well as their victories in the 2024 campaign when Shreyas Iyer led them.

Narine has won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award thrice (2012, 2018, 2024), which is the most by any player.
