Chennai Super Kings(CSK) created history after they defeatedMumbai Indians(MI) by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK have blown hot and cold this season, but they had a near-perfect game against the Hardik Pandya-led side. Having restricted MI to 159-7, CSK cruised to a win by eight wickets, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad playing a brilliant knock of 67. CSK had also thrashed MI at the Wankhede Stadium, thus making it 2-0 this season.
Meanwhile, the recent win helped CSK achieve a special feat. CSK and MI have shared an intense rivalry inIPL, and it is clearly evident from their head-to-head records where MI marginally lead CSK with 21 wins. CSK, on the other hand, have 20 wins against MI. The recent win over MI meant that CSK became the first team in IPL to register 20 wins against the Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have 17 wins against the former champions.
For MI, things are gloomy. MI have four points against their name and only wins in all their remaining games can keep them in the hunt for a playoff berth. Another loss, and MI's hopes will be put to rest.
