An interview clip of actor Seth Rogen has resurfaced in which he openly dismisses the idea of having children as unnecessary, painting family life in stark terms while suggesting more people should speak out against it.

In the old clip, which has again gone viral, Rogen declared, “You don’t need kids,” adding “the world won’t even be here in 30 years,” framing the decision as practical rather than personal. He went on to say there should be “more voices that you don’t need to have kids.”

Rogen contrasted family life with his own experience, claiming that people describe having kids as “brief glimmering moments of beauty amongst a sea of pain.” He painted the child-free path in glowing terms: “not having kids is just lovely all the time… It’s just great all day.” He insisted he never feels “like I wish I had kids and I’m missing something by not having them.”

Seth Rogan on why he doesn’t want kids.To each his own but the greatest gift God ever gave us is the gift of having kids. All the money, fame and accolades in the world can replace having kids.If you’re able to, have kids.A ton of them.pic.twitter.com/NwReDopVLC

At one point he gestured to his lifestyle with his wife, saying that the pair always tell each other “If we had kids, we couldn’t do this.” The message was clear: freedom, convenience, and personal enjoyment trump any notion of legacy or sacrifice.

The remarks drew sharp pushback.

No idea why people think they remotely should tell others to or not to have childrenIf you want them. Great. If not. Great.Unless you’re paying their bills and babysitting, it’s genuinely not your worry.

The ancients literally worshipped fertility gods .. they simply knew it was the most paramount act humans undertook .. let alone the benefits besides continuing the human race .. our ancestors stir at our current societal state ????

Not wanting kids is choice. That's fine. Characterizing kids as roadblocks to some sort of indulgent bliss is ignorance.

I just had my first kidAnd I totally get Seth’s take on itBecause you only truly understand the joy of bearing witness to the cycles of life; of someone who’s the sum of your relationship and love. From the outside looking in, you just won’t get it
