Delhi saw a sudden change in weather on Saturday evening as heavy rain lashed several parts of the national capital, offering relief from the ongoing heat. Areas such as RK Puram and Rao Tula Ram Marg witnessed intense showers, with visuals showing wet roads, strong winds, and reduced visibility. The rainfall was accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, marking a sharp shift from the hot conditions earlier in the day.

The change in weather brought down temperatures and gave residents a break from the scorching heat that had been affecting the city for the past few days.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert predicting light rain along with thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Delhi and nearby areas. The forecast also covered neighbouring regions such as Bahadurgarh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh, with weather activity expected within a short span of time.

The sudden downpour led to waterlogging in some areas and slowed traffic movement, especially during peak evening hours. However, many residents welcomed the rain as it improved the overall weather conditions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as more weather activity is expected in the region.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for Sunday and Monday, warning of light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the city.

Earlier in the day, Safdarjung, the city’s main weather station, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.9°C on Saturday—3.1 degrees higher than the previous day and slightly above normal. The maximum temperature reached 38.6°C, which, while still below the seasonal average, marked an increase from Friday.
