Allegations of poll violence surfaced from the Hatra area of Chapra Assembly constituency during Phase II of the 2026West Bengal elections, where a BJP polling agent claimed he was brutally assaulted while heading to a booth.

Speaking exclusively to Times Now, BJP agent Mosarof Mir alleged that he was stopped near Booth No. 53 by supporters of the rival party and attacked without provocation.

“They blocked our way to the polling booth, abused us with filthy language, and suddenly assaulted us. They started beating us indiscriminately with fists, kicks, iron rods, and the blunt side of sharp weapons,” Mir said.

Describing the assault, he added, “One of them struck me on the head with an iron rod. I started bleeding heavily and fell to the ground, but they continued to beat me mercilessly. They even tried to attack me further with sharp weapons.”

Mir also claimed that the attackers threatened him with firearms during the incident. “They pointed guns at us and warned that we would be killed,” he said.

According to him, local residents intervened after hearing the commotion and rescued the injured. “People from nearby rushed to help and took us to Chapra Hospital, where I received treatment. I had to get five stitches on my head,” he stated.

The BJP agent further alleged that he continues to face threats even after the incident. “They told us that if we file a police complaint and return home, they will kill us. We are living in fear,” Mir told Times Now.
