Varanasi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Ganga Expressway today between 11 am and 11:30 am. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present at the event.
The Ganga Expressway is Uttar Pradesh's longest expressway and one of India's largest greenfield highway projects. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 crore, the massive six-lane expressway stretches 594 kilometres from Meerut to Prayagraj. It can be expanded to eight lanes in the future.

The expressway passes through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.
For ordinary travellers, the biggest advantage is time savings. The journey between Meerut and Prayagraj, which currently takes around 10 to 12 hours, will now take just 6 to 8 hours.
Businesses, traders, farmers and transporters across Uttar Pradesh are expected to benefit significantly.
The Ganga Expressway is being developed as an economic corridor, not just a road. The Uttar Pradesh government has planned 12 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) along the route.
These industrial hubs are expected to create thousands of jobs and boost manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, food processing and e-commerce.
A special 3.5-km airstrip has been built in Shahjahanpur. It can be used for emergency landings by fighter aircraft, giving the expressway strategic defence importance as well.
