KINGSBRIDGE, The Bronx -- Three teenagers were shot, including one fatally, in the Bronx on Wednesday, in an outburst of violence police are investigating as gang-related.The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. at Broadway and West 238th Street.First responding officers found a 16-year-old boy shot in the back, a 15-year-old boy shot in the right leg and a 13-year-old girl shot in the right leg.All three victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where the 16-year-old victim, identified as Christopher Redding, was pronounced dead. The other two victims are both in stable condition.Police say a disagreement may have started in a McDonald's, then spilled out into the street.A witness said he saw a group of kids fighting in front of a bodega at the corner of Broadway and West 238th Street.He said the group then ran down 238th Street where the shots rang out in front of a row of restaurants. He said the victims then ran back the other way and collapsed in front of the bodega.The police investigation on West 238th Street stretched around the corner onto Broadway.Restaurants were forced to close early after being caught up in the middle of the massive crime scene, which shook up patrons of steakhouses and alehouses, and those just trying to get home."We don't know what's going to happen. Sometimes you're afraid to walk to that corner there - you're afraid to walk because they got all these gangs of teenagers," said witness Regina Hall.Police right now are investigating the triple shooting as gang-related.Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson was at the scene."We also have to delve further into our school communities," she said. "What are our young people involved in? In school and out of school."The borough president says her office is working with nearby high schools, offering support and counseling, and looking to prevent retaliation.No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
