A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Cross River Drive (County Road 105) at Union Avenue in Riverhead, according to the Riverhead Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the northbound lane of Cross River Drive at about 7:57 a.m. April 28 and determined that a 2022 CFMoto motorcycle traveling northbound struck a pickup truck that was making a left turn onto Cross River Drive from Union Avenue.
The motorcycle operator, identified by police as Ismael Santiago Basantez-Ramon, 22, was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck was also transported by Riverhead Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center, treated and released, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department Detective Division and the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to conduct further investigation. Police said the crash appears to be noncriminal at this time.
