This is only the second time Sinner has reached the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open in his career after 2024, when he had to give Felix Auger-Aliassime a walkover. The Italian will reach the last four of the semi-final for the first time if he wins his last eight clashes.

If Sinner managed to win in Madrid Open this time around, he will have won eight of the nine Masters 1000 titles in his career. Only Novak Djokovic (who has won all nine) has previously achieved this feat.

No player previously has won the first four Masters 1000 titles of the year. Djokovic is the only player apart from Sinner to win the first three after emerging victorious in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo in 2015. This gives the Italian a golden chance to become the first player with the unprecedented achievement.
