After a late-night dust storm in Delhi NCR, people in New Delhi woke up to a more pleasant and slightly cooler morning on Tuesday compared to the past few days. However, the minimum temperature around 6:30 am was still close to 30 degree C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies for Tuesday. Some areas may also receive light drizzle.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday. The city may see one or two spells of light rain along with strong winds reaching up to 50 kmph. This weather change is likely to bring down the maximum temperature to below 40 degree C. IMD defines a heatwave when the maximum temperature is at least 4.5 degree C above normal and crosses 40 degree C, or when it reaches 45 degree C or more.
No weather station in Delhi recorded heatwave conditions on Monday, similar to Sunday. Earlier, such conditions were seen at four stations on Saturday, two on Friday, and one on Thursday.
