Seoul stocks briefly topped the 6,700-point level Tuesday, set to reach another milestone, driven by large-cap tech shares ahead of earnings releases from big U.S. tech companies.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) hovered above the threshold around 10:00 a.m.
The new intraday peak came ahead of first-quarter earnings releases from the Magnificent 7 (M7) companies in the United States, including Apple, Microsoft and Meta.
The previous high was set Monday, when the index closed at 6,615.03 points.
Overnight stock indexes on Wall Street closed mixed after Washington said U.S. President Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting with officials regarding stalled peace talks with Iran.
