Remember the guy whose funeral Obama used as an opportunity to take selfies with heads of state? He already fought this battle, and won.
To the average voter, the panic around Dems having safeguards around the elections says more about their distrust of the system and desire to leverage its weaknesses for political advantage than it ever would about their commitment to the rights of individual voters.
Political mouthpieces on the left, from the media, to elected politicians, to Barack Obama himself have been claiming that — despite overwhelming voter support for the idea of having American voters prove their identities and eligibility to vote before casting a ballot — initiatives to enshrine such guardrails into law are ‘racist’.
Jim Crow 2.0 is the talking point Dems have apparently focus-grouped as a label they are fighting like hell to slap on the Save America Act, so they don’t get blasted in the polls for opposing it.
They are trying hard. It’s too soon to know if they can get the lie to stick, like they did with other legislation like ‘Affordable Health Care’ that will ‘let you keep your doctor’, or the ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ that raised inflation and delivered key parts of AOC’s Green New Deal while pretending to target inflation. (The GND, in turn, was never about the environment. Her own COS claimed it wasREALLY about a ‘revolution’ in the economy. And he would know, having helped craft it. It doesn’t take much creativity to understand what ‘revoution’ a member of the Democratic Socialists of America might want to see in the US economy.) In Florida, the media flogged ‘Don’t Say Gay’ as the unofficial name for a bill that had zero to do with homosexuality, and everything to do with preventing topics of an adult nature (straight or otherwise) from being introduced to first, second, or third graders.
It was purely propaganda to whip up the left’s activist class.
We’re seeing the same dynamic play out in pearl clutching over Voter Id legislation. Kamala is waxing poetic about Kinkos and Xerox machines. Leftists are claiming that married women will be shut out of voting, as if they have not already faced this problem and solved for other places that require ID.
They will ‘disenfranchise people of color’.
Do any of these people have the STONES to make the same allegation against … Nelson Mandela?
Here’s one of my favourite photos of him. Love the shirt!
