Disneyland’sfine dining crown jewel, Napa Rose, is under fire from a disgruntled diner who claims the upscale eatery is serving up “mid” food despite charging a king’s ransom.
The guest took toReddita few days ago to warn fellow Disney diners to “avoid” the Grand Californian Hotel’s flagship restaurant after dropping a staggering $1,200 on a meal for five that left them feeling more cheated than a fairy tale villain.
“Food was very mid to flavorless,” the disgruntled guest wrote on the Disneyland Reddit page. “Nothing tasted disgusting or awful but it was all one note. No flavor explosions in your mouth.”
The diner posted photos of beautifully plated but reportedly bland dishes — including a miso cabbage scallion crepe and sorpresine pasta — blasted the restaurant for failing to live up to its minimum of $188-per-person price point.
The flavor wasn’t the only bone that the diner had to pick.
Despite an official dress code posted online, the user claimed the dining room’s clientele did not fit that of a Michelin-aspiring restaurant. “There is a dress code that nobody follows,” the poster vented, noting she showed up in a dress and heels only to be seated next to guests in “graphic t-shirts, hoodies, jeans.”
“It’s a fancy, expensive restaurant with the whole open kitchen layout. I expected a better meal…They want the full experience to feel luxurious.”
They also slammed the staff for being “not all that experienced in cuisine like high price restaurants should have,” claiming the servers couldn’t recommend a proper wine pairing — a cardinal sin for a restaurant named after California’s wine country.
However, the internet was divided on the review, with fans rushing to defend the pricey hotspot, writing glowing reviews of Napa Rose.
“I’ve eaten at a number of Michelin star restaurants, and have eaten at great spots all over the globe – I was very, very, happy with Napa Rose,” one Redditor commented.
