First Lady Melania Trump blasted Jimmy Kimmel on Monday and called for ABC to take him off the air after the late night talk show host joked that she would soon become a widow.

“Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel quipped on Thursday’s episode of ABC/Disney’sJimmy Kimmel Live, as he pretended to host the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The joke, however, hit too close to home when a would-be assassin crashed the dinner Saturday night hoping to take Trump and other administration officials (*except for Kash Patel) out.

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America,” the First Lady wrote. “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.”

She continued, “A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”

Images from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner captured the First Lady’s shocked reaction to the shooting, with President Donald Trump later telling reporters the incident was “traumatic” for her.
