The last few days for Delhiites were all about heatwave conditions, intense heat, and torturing high temperatures; however, amid all the dire conditions, it seems likeDelhiis finally all set to experience some relief at the end of the day today, Monday, April 27. Reportedly, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow alert’ for rain in theNational Capital. Delhi might witness ‘light rain’ today, which may result in bringing the temperatures down after days of it increasing and crossing the 40°C mark.
The IMD has predicted “very light to light rain accompanied by moderate thunderstorm/ lightning”, with wind speeds that may reach “30-50 kmph”. “Very light to light rain accompanied with moderate thunderstorm/ lightning (wind speed 30-50 kmph) gusting to 60 kmph very likely over parts of South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahadara, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi,” the IMD said.
Earlier, the IMD had also issued a “yellow alert” for Monday and warned of isolated heatwave conditions in parts of Delhi. However, it also predicted a gradual shift in the second half of the day. Temperatures were reportedly expected to touch between 43°C and 45°C during the first half of Monday; however, with the possibility of light rain, the conditions are expected to change starting Tuesday, April 28.

Reportedly, temperatures may fall to 40°C to 42°C on Tuesday, and may further fall to 39°C to 41°C on Wednesday, April 29. “Cloudiness”, on the other hand, “is expected to remain” till Thursday, April 30.
On Sunday, April 26, the maximum-observed temperature was 42.1°Celsius in Delhi, while it had touched 42.8°C on Saturday, April 25.
