Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with Iran, signalling continued cooperation between the two countries amid heightened geopolitical tensions. During a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Putin said Russia remains “determined to continue its strategic relations” with the Islamic Republic, underlining the importance Moscow places on its partnership with Tehran. The meeting took place on Monday in Saint Petersburg, Russian state news agency Tass said.

He further said that Russia would take steps aligned with the interests of Iran and the broader region. The Russian leader also revealed that he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei last week, indicating ongoing high-level engagement between the two countries.

The meeting comes at a time of increased global tensions involving Iran, with regional dynamics evolving rapidly.
