Trump and his wife, Melania, were rushed to safety after gunfire was heard outside the ballroom on Saturday night. Authorities believe the suspect, a 31-year-old man named Cole Allen fired one or two times before being detained.
Allen allegedly rushed a security point while armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives. He then headed toward the ballroom where gunfire was exchanged.

An agent was hit but saved by a bullet-proof vest. Meanwhile, Allen was not shot but instead tackled to the ground before being arrested and taken into custody.
The suspect now faces federal charges, including assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon and using a firearm during a crime of violence. It is believed he aimed to target administration officials, including President Trump.
After being evacuated, the President posted on Truth Social to confirm the suspect had been "apprehended". He praised law enforcement officials for acting "quickly and bravely" but added he "wasn't worried" during the shooting.
