Riverhead Town Police recorded 100 criminal incidents in February, down from 135 in February 2025, according to the department’s monthly activity report.

Riverhead Police reported filing 58 criminal charges in February. The most common charge categories shown in the report’s arrest-by-charge chart were petit larceny (14), driving while intoxicated (8), TCV (6) and arrest warrant (5).
Riverhead Police arrested 54 people on those charges and held 29 individuals for arraignment, according to the report.
Police reported 46 domestic incidents in February, down from 56 in February 2025.
There were 2,743 total incidents reported in February, up from 2,375 a year earlier. The report listed 2,643 non-criminal incidents, up from 2,240 in February 2025.
Police reported 149 motor vehicle accidents in February, compared with 126 in February 2025. Seven accidents involved deer, compared with 10 a year earlier.
The town issued 1,053 summonses in February, up from 889 in February 2025.
The criminal offense data reported by the Riverhead Police Department complies with the National Incident-Based Reporting System implemented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and used by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The department completed its transition to NIBRS reporting in July 2024.
