Barrackpore:On the last day of campaigning for phase II of theWest BengalAssembly Elections 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (April 27) addressed a ‘Vijay Sankalp’ in Barrackpore. While confidence in winning the West Bengal polls, the Prime Minister made the “Anga, Banga and Kalinga” pitch during the election rally.
“The atmosphere which I am witnessing her, it is certain that the lotus (BJP's symbol) will bloom in Bengal this time. “Anga Banga and Kalinga (Bihar, Bengal and Odisha) has confidence in the BJP,” he added.
“This election in West Bengal will change the destiny of Bengal as well as eastern India. In the past, when India was prosperous, it had three strong pillars: Anga, Banga, and Kalinga—meaning Bihar, Bengal, and Odisha... Today, as India moves forward with the goal of becoming developed, for this, Anga, Banga, and Kalinga need to be strong,” The PM further stated.
Targeting the Trinamool Congress, PM Modi said that Mamata Banerjee’s party did not even mention “Maa, Maati, and Manush” in its election rallies. Notably, the slogan was coined by TMC supremo and West Bengal’s incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“In this election, TMC leaders haven't even once mentioned 'Maa, Maati, and Manush'. The slogan with which TMC formed the government in Bengal, they've forgotten that slogan,” the Prime Minister said. He further added that the TMC government had done nothing for women's safety and for farmers. “TMC's formula is to lie and hurl abuses,” the PM added.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said Bengal has played a deeply personal role in his life and spiritual journey.
"The attachment I have had towards Bengal has been a devotion to Shakti. This has been the energy center of my personal spiritual journey. It has been inspired by Bengal's great personalities and the immense love of the people, the Janata Janardan. The experiences I have had on this land of Bengal, I consider a great blessing upon myself," PM Modi said.
Calling the Barrackpore rally his final public meeting in the ongoing election campaign in the state, he expressed confidence in the electoral outcome.
"This is my last rally in this election, and wherever I have gone in West Bengal, I have seen the mood of the people. I am returning with the confidence that after the results on May 4, I will have to come back to attend the BJP's oath-taking ceremony," he added. The PM even called the TMC governance as "jungle raj."
The Prime Minister also spoke about his emotional connect with people during campaign events, saying he values the gestures and messages he receives.
