A fire broke out on the 9th floor of a residential building in the Gokhuldham area of Goregaon East,Mumbai, on Friday morning (February 13). The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared the fire a Level 1 (L-1) fire after the citizens alerted about the incident around 9:11 AM. The fire erupted in the DB Wood Building, a ground-plus-floor 45-story building located on Krishna Vatika Road.

According to preliminary information, the fire broke out in a bedroom and was confined to electrical wiring, electrical installations, kitchen appliances, and household items. No injuries have been reported in the incident yet.

Firefighters are working to extinguish the flames using the building's fixed firefighting system. As a precautionary measure, the evacuation of inmates was carried out and sent to the refuge area and the terrace of the building.

The operation involved an assistant divisional fire officer, two senior station officers, four station officers, four firefighters, four junior firefighters, one assistant water tender operator, one turntable ladder, one hydraulic platform, one heavy rescue firefighting vehicle, one breakdown van, one quick response vehicle, one water quick response vehicle, and a 108 ambulance.

Apart from MFB, local police, staff from the electricity distribution company, 108 ambulance service, and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staff were also deployed for the firefighting operation.

A fire broke out in the Naval Dockyard in southMumbaion Thursday night, officials said. As per preliminary information, the blaze erupted at the Survey Yard building located inside the Naval Dockyard at around 10.15 pm, they said.

An official said the spot where the fire erupted was situated diagonally opposite the Gateway of India in Colaba. "Navy authorities rushed to the spot and initiated firefighting operations. There is no report of any injuries so far. Further details are awaited," the official said.
