Two accounting scholars — Yoon Jae-won at Hongik University and Lee Han-sol of Kangwon National University — have been named the 2026 recipients of the Korean Accounting Association-Deloitte Anjin Academic Award for their research contributions to capital market integrity and corporate governance reform, Deloitte Anjin said.

Yoon received the Honors Award, a distinction granted to established mid-career academics who have demonstrated consistent and influential scholarship in areas such as accounting transparency and governance systems. She has examined core issues including accounting standards and internal control over financial reporting.

More recently, her academic focus has shifted toward evolving regulatory and institutional practices, including environmental, social and governance reporting and XBRL-based financial reporting systems.

She joined Hongik University in 2004 and holds a U.S. Certified Public Accountant license. She also currently chairs the board of Shinhan Financial Group, where she is involved in strengthening governance structures and internal oversight mechanisms.

Lee received the Emerging Scholar Award, which recognizes promising early-stage researchers whose recent achievements signal strong future impact. His research has explored corporate governance mechanisms, internal control environments and sustainability-related financial issues.

Lee’s published work also addresses topics such as earnings management during the COVID-19 pandemic and the influence of foreign shareholding on innovation outcomes. His studies have appeared in internationally recognized journals, including Applied Economics, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, and the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems.

Deloitte Korea CEO Hong Jong-sung underscored the importance of high-quality accounting scholarship in bolstering market credibility and promoting transparent corporate management.

“I hope the award will continue to motivate leading researchers and further elevate the standard of accounting research in Korea,” he said.

The award is conferred under the association’s internal regulations, and recipients hold the title for a one-year term.
