Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday wrote toDelhi High Court Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, saying he will not appear in the excise case personally or through a lawyer before her, the party said. "My hope of getting justice from Justice Swarana Kanta has been broken. Therefore, I have decided to follow Mahatma Gandhi's path of Satyagraha," Kejriwal wrote in the letter. He further said he has made the decision by listening to the voice of his conscience.
The former Delhi chief minister added that he will reserve the right to approach the Supreme Court to appeal against Justice Sharma's decision.

This comes days after Justice Sharma read an hour-long order giving reasons why shewon't step backfrom hearing the appeal by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the discharge of Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the Delhi Liquor Policy case.
The court emphasised that allegations made in the recusal pleas were based on “aspersions, insinuations and doubts” without supporting evidence. It warned that allowing such pleas could open the door for “powerful litigants to attack judges” and encourage forum shopping.
“The application seeking recusal are, therefore, rejected and in this rejection, this court affirms its fidelity to the Constitution on behalf of myself and every judge who stands by it. Justice lies not in shielding under pressure, but in doing justice of objectively,” she said.
