Here we are eight weeks into this war, and not one of Trump’s core objectives has clearly materialized. The ceasefire is fragile, the blockade is still active, Hormuz traffic is still heavily impaired, and even the next round of talks remains conditional and uncertain.
Instead, for weeks the public has been fed the same script:“talks are going well.”“a deal is close.”“we may meet tomorrow.”“good news soon.”
When a politician repeats “deal soon” for week after week without producing the deal, we stop treating that phrase as progress and start treating it as propaganda, perception management, and narrative control.
The real signals are not counterfeit words. The real signals are truth.
Are ships moving freely? No.Is Hormuz normalized? No.Is the market dealing with a real resolution? No.
Traffic through Hormuz fell to just three vessels in a 12-hour stretch at one point, versus a normal daily pace around 130 ships, while war-risk insurance costs rose sharply. That is not “fully open.” That is a strategic artery still choking under stress.
And because of that, the U.S. economy and the American people are going to pay a heavy economic price.
Do not treat “a deal is close” as information anymore.Treat it as theater until the structure changes.
That means… ships moving safely and consistently, blockade pressure easing, insurance normalizing, and both sides confirming real concessions.
