Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), a public company that operates the Seven Luck casino, said Thursday that it conducted holiday support and volunteer efforts to help about 400 vulnerable households for the Lunar New Year.
The activities were carried out in cooperation with social welfare centers in Busan and Seoul’s Gangnam District, with additional support coordinated through the GKL Social Contribution Foundation in Yongsan District in Seoul.
In the Gangnam area, GKL and the Suseo Myeonghwa Comprehensive Social Welfare Center hosted a Lunar New Year dumpling making event for elderly residents in need. GKL employees volunteered alongside participants to prepare traditional holiday foods, including dumplings and rice cake soup.
In Yongsan, the GKL Social Contribution Foundation provided holiday food and daily necessities to local children’s welfare facilities, aiming to reach children who might otherwise be overlooked during the holiday period.
In Busan, GKL partnered with the Busanjin District Comprehensive Social Welfare Center to assemble holiday food packages for vulnerable families and elderly people living alone. Company volunteers then delivered the packages directly to recipients’ homes.
“On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, we wanted to share warm feelings with neighbors in the community,” GKL President Yoon Doo-hyun said in a statement.
“We will continue to carry out charitable activities together with local communities.”
