I’m looking to tell the people in the room who have it, there law enforcement in the room and attendees and you make eye contact with those people and other leaders in that position. Public leaders, that’s our role as journalists, we are supposed to report the story and stay calm and help people get through it and that’s all part of what we do, but I have to say something if I can jump politics for a second. Secret Service has been unfunded 71 days. What kind of country do we live in? We depend on people keep not just the president of the other three plus thousand people in that room away from harm. This is the 98th White House correspondents dinner. The only ones cancel since 1921 work because of World War II, three years there and Covid in 2020. We ought to have this down, I’ll knock and we need a DHS fully funded and the coast guard also not funded."
