A 46-year-old mainland Chinese woman was pulled from the sea by a passing couple after falling while taking photos at Fat Tong Mun in Sai Kung
A 46-year-old mainland Chinese woman was rescued on Sunday morning after slipping into the sea while taking photos at a lighthouse in Hong Kong’s Sai Kung.
Police received a report at 10.54am that a woman had fallen into the water at Fat Tong Mun, a sea channel between the southern tip of the Clear Water Bay Peninsula and the northern tip of Tung Lung Chau.
A source said the woman was taking photos with friends at Fat Tong Mun Lighthouse when she lost her footing and fell three metres (9.8 feet) into the sea.
Police said a couple passing by on a fishing boat managed to pull her from the water.
Marine police arrived at the scene and found the woman had regained consciousness. She was then taken to Siu Sai Wan Pier before being rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan for further treatment.
Known as Hong Kong’s “Eastern Gate”, Fat Tong Mun is a historic waterway near Clear Water Bay. It is home to the city’s oldest Tin Hau Temple, built in 1266, as well as ancient rock carvings. The site remains an important cultural landmark for seafaring traditions and heritage conservation.
