Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk was reportedly seen crying backstage after shots rang out at the White House Correspondents' dinner on Saturday night. In the videos that have emerged, Kirk was seen running in the backstage area and wiping tears.

"I just want to go home," Kirk said, according to the report, which noted she was safely escorted out of the event.

US President Donald Trump was unharmed, and several top US officials were evacuated from the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night after a suspect reportedly opened fire at the high-profile event.

The US Secret Service said the individual was taken into custody near the main security screening area at the Washington Hilton, where the event was taking place. The administration has confirmed that all key officials, including the First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Cabinet members, are safe and accounted for.

Notably, Erika Kirk's husband, Charlie Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was shot and killed in September 2025 while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

After the shooting, Trump addressed reporters and called the shooter a "sick person". He also shared CCTV footage appearing to show the suspect running into the hotel ballroom. In the clip, the man runs past the security metal detectors as security agents draw their guns.

"I’ve studied assassinations, and I must tell you, the most impactful people... the people that do the most, the people that make the biggest impact, they're the ones that they go after."

"It's a dangerous profession, but I don't view it that way. Look, I'm here to do a job. It's part of the job... I love the country, and I'm very proud," he added.

The White House Correspondents’ Annual Dinner has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
