The 19-year-old man accused of raping and murdering anIRS officer’s 22-year-old daughterin south Delhi is under intense scrutiny for what investigators describe as a chillingly composed demeanour before and after the crime. Police believe his unusual, calm and calculated actions could provide crucial insights into the sequence of events that took place over nearly 12 hours across Rajasthan and Delhi.

The accused checked into the hotel around 9 am, told the receptionist he had travelled from Rajasthan, submitted his Aadhaar details, paid around Rs 1,000 and behaved without raising suspicion. He even mentioned that his uncle would visit later to decide the duration of his stay.

Police tracked his mobile location to the hotel and arrested him later that day. Investigators said his calm behaviour continued during interrogation, with no visible signs of remorse.

The probe has since yielded crucial evidence. The victim’s mobile phone, allegedly taken after the crime, was recovered from a garbage bin in Garhi village. Blood-soaked clothes believed to belong to the accused were also found at the crime scene.

Sources, as quoted by TOI, said he fled with cash and valuables, made misleading calls to evade detection and discarded phones to erase digital footprints.

Delhi Police is now likely to conduct a psychological evaluation to better understand his mental state, behavioural patterns and possible motive behind the crimes.
