Singer Moon Won, who is set to marry Shinji of the group Koyote, has opened up about the real-life difficulties he faced following a controversy over remarks he made.
Moon and Shinji appeared as guests on the “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant” episode that aired April 24, where they revealed their newlywed home. Moon drew attention by taking care of cooking and cleaning for Shinji.
“At the beginning of our relationship, my wife once fainted in front of me,” he said. “I felt I needed to be by her side and take care of her,” expressing his affection for her.
Moon said Shinji was “a difficult person at first, but someone worthy of respect,” adding that “she changed me a lot.” Shinji, in turn, said Moon “doesn’t let me lift a finger,” adding, “I’m grateful and sorry. If he hadn’t met me, he wouldn’t have had such a hard time,” referring to the controversy that surrounded him last year.
Moon had faced backlash shortly after announcing his marriage to Shinji. During a meeting with fellow Koyote members Kim Jong-min and Bbaekga, he said he “didn’t know Shinji was famous,” a clip of which was later shared on YouTube.
The remark led some netizens to question his sincerity, and opposition to the marriage grew online.
Moon said that after the controversy, his work opportunities dried up. Shinji said “all jobs, including performances and wedding singing gigs, were cut off.”
Moon said he sought any work he could find, including jobs at a logistics center and cleaning staircases.
“I couldn’t afford to rest, and I wanted to contribute,” he said.
