Washington DC:At Least 23 people were reportedly injured in abus crashnear the Pentagon. Among the injured are 10 Department of War personnel, according to a statement from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency Corporate Communications Office. The incident took place at around 7:20 am on Metro Access Road. The crash involved an OmniRide bus and a Fairfax Connector bus.
"At approximately 7:20 a.m. today, an Omni Ride and a Fairfax Connector transit bus collided on the Metro Access Road. Twenty-three passengers were injured. Ten of the twenty-three injured passengers are Department of War personnel," the statement read, as reported by Fox News.
A rescue operation has been launched. First responders evacuated 18 individuals to local hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, the remaining five personnel were treated at the site of the accident and were released immediately.. There are no reports of any casualties. The exact reason for the crash is not known yet.
After the crash, the Pentagon Metro Station and Transit Center was reportedly closed on Friday morning. Police said they were responding to the collision around 8:19 am near Pentagon South parking lot.

Metro Transit Police confirmed the crash, and said it does not involve any of its buses, reported CBS News. "Metro Buses cannot access the station right now and are being rerouted to Pentagon City while the crash is under investigation," a social media post stated. Traffic movement has been disrupted due to the accident. Authorities have also issued a travel advisory for daily commuters to take alternate route to reach their destination.
"Normal operations have resumed at the Pentagon Metro Station and Transit Center. Commuters are encouraged to check official transportation schedules for potential delays. Pentagon Police thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding," Pentagon Force Protection Agency said in its X post.
An investigation has been launched into the matter. US Authorities are probing all the angles, including the possibility of a terrorist attack.
