On Thursday, April 16, Digital Photography I and II students from Manhasset Secondary School traded the classroom for the ballpark, embarking on a comprehensive photography expedition at Citi Field. The visit challenged students to apply technical skills in a fast-paced, unfamiliar environment while documenting one of New York’s premier sports venues.

The educational tour provided exclusive access to various stadium levels, including luxury suites and dining concourses. Students practiced “on-the-move” photography, capturing the unique architecture and lighting of the facility. A highlight of the experience featured a walk along the first-base line, allowing students to photograph the field from home plate to the bullpen.

The visit concluded with an interactive session with New York Mets Team Photographers Liz Flynn and Jessica Ciminelli. The professionals shared insights into their educational backgrounds and discussed the realities of working in sports photography and other specialized disciplines. This dialogue offered students a firsthand look at potential career paths within the professional photography industry.

The visit provided a rare opportunity to bridge classroom theory with professional practice, leaving the students inspired by the artistry found within the world of sports.
