A Farmingdale man was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train the evening of Monday, April 20, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department.
Cameron William Zappolo, 21, was reported to be on the tracks at the Merritts Road crossing east of the Bethpage Station when he was struck by the train traveling from Penn Station around 7:34 p.m. Police said he was unauthorized to be on the tracks at the time and an investigation showed no criminality is suspected.
Zappolo was treated at the scene and transported to Nassau Univeristy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to police.
No other injuries were reported by police.
MTA police said the investigation is ongoing.
