General Douglas MacArthur High School and the Levittown School District named Meaghan Campbell as valedictorian and Sara Duda as salutatorian for the Class of 2026.
Campbell, who sports a 105.2 GPA, has achieved great success in athletics as a three-sport athlete.
Campbell is a star basketball player and was named a Scholar Athlete, a Newsday top player, earned All-County and All-Conference honors and scored her 1,000th point this year. As a player on the varsity volleyball team, Campbell helped lead the team to a conference championship. She has also earned All-Conference honors in flag football and assists her peers as a buddy for the Challengers basketball team.
Outside of the school, Campbell teaches basketball and volunteers at various programs for St. Bernard’s Church.
In the Science Research program at MacArthur, Campbell has conducted projects that observe human behavior and social conformity and presented her work in the Long Island Science Congress, Northwell Medical Marvels and the IACS Women in STEM competitions.
In the National, Math and World Language honor societies, Campbell tutors peers.
She will attend Vassar College to study neuroscience and behavior and to continue her basketball career.
Duda, who attained a GPA of 104.8, is a medal-winning member of the Science Olympiad team and competes with the mathletes team.
In Science Research, Duda has studied both social sciences and plant life, notably by simulating lunar conditions to see if coffee grounds or coconut husks can help a plant grow.
She was an early entrant into the AP Physics program during her sophomore year and the AP Calculus program in her junior year.
