Delhi NCR is witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures with the capital recording the season's hottest day on Friday (April 23). What begins as a pleasant morning quickly turns into intense afternoon heat, leaving people drenched in sweat. The latest weather update has issued animportant alertfor residents over the next few days. Severeheatwave conditionscontinue to grip the National Capital Region, with temperatures expected to hover between 42 and 43 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, a yellow alert has been issued, warning of intense heat and hot winds, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
On April 24, Delhi is expected to face severe heat conditions. The sky will remain mostly clear, but direct sunlight will significantly increase discomfort levels. The biggest concern is the high likelihood of a heatwave sweeping across several parts of the city, pushing temperatures further up.
There is little hope for immediate relief on April 25. While the sky may turn partly cloudy, the heatwave conditions are expected to continue. This means that despite some cloud cover, the intensity of the heat will remain high and residents should stay cautious.
Different parts of Delhi will experience similar conditions. North and North East Delhi will see clear skies along with strong heatwave activity. New Delhi and Central Delhi will experience scorching sunshine today, with slight cloud movement expected from tomorrow. South and South West Delhi are under a heatwave alert for the next two days, while West Delhi will continue to face clear skies and hot winds, especially during the afternoon hours.
In NCR cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad, the weather will remain extremely hot till April 25, with only minor cloud cover expected later.
Air quality in Delhi remains a concern. The AQI is currently recorded at 176, which falls under the "Unhealthy" category. This means pollution levels are high and may cause breathing discomfort, especially for children, elderly people and those with respiratory conditions.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors.
