IRS Officer's Daughter Murder Case:The rape and murder of an IRS officer's daughter in Delhi has shaken the nation. But what has made the case even more disturbing is the cold, calculated behaviour of the accused - Rakesh Meena - who showed no remorse even after being caught. The Saket Court sent him to police custody on Thursday. Police sources say Meena was not driven by rage alone - he came with a plan. Buried in debt, he had entered the house with the intent to steal money from the lockers in the victim's room, hoping to repay loans his family had taken. He has admitted to the theft, though he claims the sexual assault was not premeditated.
The victim was studying in her room when Meena gained entry into the house, telling her that her mother had called him in. He then asked her for money, saying he needed it urgently. She refused. The argument that followed turned violent - Meena allegedly warned her not to shout, and then struck her repeatedly on the face with a lamp. She collapsed, bleeding.

After she lost consciousness, he allegedly raped her. He then dragged her to the room where the lockers were kept. Since the victim’s hands were soaked in blood, he was unable to use her fingerprints. He then allegedly used a screwdriver to break them open.
Before walking out, he changed out of his blood-stained trousers into a pair belonging to the victim's brother. He put things back in place, making the room look undisturbed. CCTV footage shows him leaving the premises looking completely composed — unhurried, casual. He had already switched off his phone to avoid being tracked, and was seen pretending to be on a call as he walked away.
He was traced and arrested shortly after. Investigation is ongoing.
