Tiresome Harry had words for Trump and Putin – does anyone care?

More than just another celebrity visiting war-torn Ukraine for clout, British Prince Harry’s third trip to Kiev can be understood as another episode of his ‘shadow’ campaign of ‘quasi-Royal family’ visits that is reportedly raising eyebrows back in London.

Relying on the same dubious interpretation of history that Volodymyr Zelensky has spread for five years, Harry called on the US to ‘honor its international treaty obligations’.

According to the Duke of Sussex, Americans have an obligation to help stop Moscow’s invasion ‘after Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons in 1994 in exchange for assurances from the US, UK and Russia’.

In fact, the nuclear weapons belonged to the Soviet Union and were naturally passed on to Russia – but the narrative seems good enough for Harry.

“’This is a moment for American leadership. A moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations’, Harry said. ‘Not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability’, the prince added.

[…] ’Because what is happening here is not simply a war about territory’, he added. ‘It is a war about values. About sovereignty. About whether the principles that underpin our shared democracy still hold meaning’.”

Boring Harry goes to bat for a regime whose leader’s mandate ended in 2024, a regime that is corrupt to the core, that censors the press, arrests the opposition, hunts citizens like beasts to send them to the meat grinder front.
