TALARICO: “Texans need relief. Americans need relief. And it’s why today I’m proposing that we immediately suspend the federal gas tax and the federal diesel tax to put money back in our pockets. Every time you fill up at the tank, you are paying a hidden tax called the gas tax. And by suspending it, we can immediately drop the price of gas by 18 cents, saving every American more than $200 a year. I’m also proposing that we suspend the federal diesel tax and that will not only help those whose vehicles run on diesel save about $170 a year, but it will also make shipping cheaper and that makes everything cheaper for everyone. I know that this is not enough, but it is at least a start to give Texans a little relief. Suspend the federal gas tax, suspend the federal diesel tax, and end this disastrous war in Iran so we can make life more affordable for Texans.”
