Iran's Parliament Speaker and top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, on Thursday, strongly pushed back against US President Donald Trump'sclaims of divisionswithin Iran’s leadership, asserting that the country remains united under its Supreme Leader even as tensions escalate over the Strait of Hormuz and stalled negotiations.

"In Iran, there are no radicals or moderates; we are all "Iranian" and "revolutionary," and with the iron unity of the nation and government, with complete obedience to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, we will make the aggressor criminal regret his actions," Ghalibaf posted on X (formerly Twitter) in Persian.

"One God, one leader, one nation, and one path; that path being the path to victory for Iran, dearer than life," he added.

Earlier today, US President Trump had claimed that there is confusion and infighting inside Iran's top leadership. "Iran is having a very hard time figuring out who their leader is! They just don’t know! The infighting is between the “Hardliners,” who have been losing BADLY on the battlefield, and the “Moderates,” who are not very moderate at all (but gaining respect!), is CRAZY!" Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

In the same post, he also claimed that the US has "total control" over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that connects Persian Gulf to Gulf of Oman and around 20 per cent of the world's total oil passes through it.

"We have total control over the Strait of Hormuz. No ship can enter or leave without the approval of the United States Navy. It is “Sealed up Tight,” until such time as Iran is able to make a DEAL!!!," he wrote.

He also shared a post which said, "If there are two factions in Iran, one that wants a deal and one that doesn't, lets kill the ones who don't want a deal."

Earlier this week, Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire with Iran, coinciding with stalled peace talks. The announcement came as Iran expressed acknowledgment of the ceasefire but remained noncommittal about attending new negotiations.
